Tim League Weighs in on Digital Projection
The founder of the Alamo Drafthouse Theater in Austin, TX wrote an article this week explaining his reasoning for going with Sony 4K digital projection in his theater. While I am not a full digital projection convert yet, I have to admit that 4K looks noticeably better than 2K (which is still the standard). So, you can count me in the “somewhat willing to be convinced” camp in this whole digital vs. film projection debate. I would still rather see a movie that is printed on celluloid any day, but if digital projection is inevitable, I’m glad that guys like Tim League (who have almost impossible standards) are there to test the waters.
